19 | 0300 | Assault coys of both bns completed their crossing and the Cl 9 bridge on the 2 Lincolns stretch of canal was started. By this time ldg coys of the bns had made steady, if slow progress, despite stiffening opposition and fwd coy of 2 RUR had reached wood 422953 and fwd coy of 2 Lincolns were approaching BROEK 434951. Both units had taken some prisoners. Later on in the early hours of the morning the Sappers of 253 Fd Coy and 17 Fd Coy RE commenced their work on the Cl 9 and Cl 40 bridges. |
