19 | 2200 | By this time carriers of 1 KOSB previously watching left flank on canal line in area HEERSTRAAT 4094 had been relieved by one pl ‘B’ Coy 2 Mx and had rejoined their bn. Throughout the day contact was maintained with the unit of 50 Div on the left, and in the evening with 8 Bde on the right. Quite a number of PW were taken, our total bag being fifty one, these were in the main, tps of indigenous organisation called Regiment Hoffman. This unit, formed last month in HALBERSTRAAT, consists of men drawn from all cl of GAF tps, incl trained parachutists. A high proportion of these tps are known to be deficient of inf trg. One man on interrogation admitted to being a flying cadet up to 5 weeks ago, since when he had been jettisoned into a GAF inf fmn and with little trg found himself five days ago assisting in the defence of the MEUSE ESCAUTE canal. |
