21 | 1940 | During the evening the Bde Comd was called away to 8 Corps HQ returning at 1940 hrs. Several reports keep filtering through regarding hosts of enemy being seen here, there and everywhere. These reports, mainly figments of civilian imagination, are harassing at times and a great deal of care is required to sift the wheat from the chaff. It was decided at the behest of the Bde Comd to contact the leader of the local resistance movement with a view to them providing guides for our patrols down the road 4793 and toward the canal 4892 - an area the Boche is known to occupy. The officer of the Belgian underground movement was duly discovered by the Bde Int Off, presented to the Bde Comd, and eager to assist, was finally placed "under comd" 2 Lincolns. |
