Khan (War Dog 147)

Biography

Rifleman Khan was a German Sheppard dog, trained to find explosives and was accompanied by Lance-Corporal (L/Cpl) Jimmy Muldoon. After the Second World War, Khan returned to his formar owner, Harry Railton in Surrey. On 25th July 1947, Khan and Muldoon took part in a parade on the National Dog Tournament, in which 16 wardogs who had received the Dickins Medal paraded. Railton was impressed by the bond that seemed to exist between Khan and Muldoon, that he handed the dog permanently over into the care of Muldoon.
