SCAO, SO1 (Exec) and SO1 (Adm) (Lt.Col. R.S. Manley) visited 129 Bde HQ and arranged for 217 Det to lift 150 Refugees in Det tpt from 917682 (near ST MAUVIEU) to CRTA. This was completed by 0600 hrs 28 Jun.

7 July 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SO1 A (Lt Col R.S. Manley) visited M Flipot (Agriculture rep for BRETTEVILLE area). Arranged civilian labour for fencing of Corps Cattle Compound at SECQUEVILLE (RE providing material). 224 Det (Major Miles) reported complaints of looting by tps in CULLY and BRETTEVILLE.

1 August 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SCAO (Col G.H. Phipps-Hornby) SO1 A (Lt.Col R.S. Manley) and SO2 E (Maj R.C. Peltzer) visited 218 det and local Ponts et Chaussees official at BALLEROY ref 39 civilian workers required to help local road-menders. Went on to Lab Second Army and discussed question with them and then went to CA Lab office in BAYEUX. No definite arrangements made.

18 September 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SCAO (Col G.H. Phipps-Hornby) and SO1A (Lt.Col. R.S. Manley) visited Second Army CA.

2 October 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SO 1s E and A ( Lt.Col RS Manley) visited 218 Det at OVERASSELT where 300 refugees had arrived from GROESBEEK district. Arranged for 2000 rations to be issued to 218 Det and for tpt from 3 Div to move refugees to HELMOND and EINDHOVEN.

3 December 1944 WO 171/304 - 8 Corps CA
SCAO and SO1 (A) (Lt.Col. Manley) attended conference at VENRAY on the subject of rehabitation of that town. Reps of Second Army, the Burgomeester and OC, 224 Det also attended. The decisions arrived at visualized the return of 500 workmen to carry out repairs to the buildings, sanitation, water supply etc and the gradual return of the inhabitants as accomodation becomes available.
