During the time he was Anti-tank Platoon Sergeant and due to his officers becoming casualties was often in command of the platoon. Sergeant BRANT’s personal example of bravery, leadership and devotion to duty was an inspiration to all members of the platoon. His objective was to have his gun in position to support the rifle companies as soon as they settled in. Due to this he was instrumental a number of times in supporting …porting enemy minefields and road blocks to Battalion Headquarters, his carrier having been the first vehicle forward. During the SCHELDT operation in which armour played a very small part, Sergeant BRANT was often called upon to take up a position with his platoon acting as infantry. This he carried out with great skill and was often flank protection when the Battalion was advancing. The smooth running of this platoon was due in no small part to the untiring efforts of Sergeant BRANT, whose gallant and courageous actions were source of."
