Biography

Hans Erich Konrad was born January 28th, 1905 in Zeisau. Prior to World War Two he was a teacher. In 1939 he entered military service as Reserve Offizier and after completion of his training in Arys, he participated in the campaign in the West. Later, holding the rank of Oberleutnant der Reserve, he was posted to 3./Infanterie-Regiment 371 on the Eastern Front. As Major and Regimentskommandeur he was wounded several times. During the retreat, he was made a POW by the Soviets in a field hospital in Upper Silesia.
In 1954 he returned to his family in Dierdorf from the POW camp Friedland. He took up teaching again and eventually retired as Schulleiter (Headmaster).
