Stabsgefreiter Erwin Altmann was killed in action near Haalderen on December 4th, 1944. At first hew was buried by the Allies at the Common Cemetery "De Teselaar" in Bemmel. On August 29th, 1957 his remains were transferred to the German War Cemetery at Ysselsteyn.
