Gerardus Johannes Berenschot was born on July 24th, 1887 as the son to Luitenant-kolonel Gerrit Hendrik Berenschot and Florence Mildred Rappa. He married on July 8th, 1908 to Margaretha Catharina de Boer. The couple had a son and two daughters. Berenschot flew on October 12th, 1941 in a Lockheed aircraft of the het ML-KNIL to Batavia for a conference with the British Supreme commander Robert Brooke-Popham. On October 13th he returned to Bandoeng. After five minutes flight, the aircraft crashed, killing all occupands. Berenschot was buried at the Pandoe cemetery in Bandoeng.
