Awarded on:

Recommendation:
"This French officer was parachuted into Brittany on 8 July 1944. On 15th July he and his resistance group were attacked by 300 White Russians but by a determined defence they killed five officers and fifty O.R. at a cost of 24 resistance casualties.

On 26 July Leborgne's H.Q. staff, now controlling 1300 armed men, were surrunded but escaped, and on 29th July they were surrounded again and his British colleague was killed. All his secret documents and many maps fell into enemy hands. Undeterred, he carried on and by 31 July 3,000 men had been armed.

On 4th August he organised and led a successful ambush against an enemy convoy making for Lorient. This action he repeated frequently, denying enemy road convoys access to the western ports, and on 8th August his party finally liberated Quimper.

It is recommended that in recognition of this officer's qualities of successful organisation and of persistent initiative and bravery, he be awarded the Military Cross."
