Citation:
"Sergeant Bayet was parachuted into Belgium on 7 May 1944 as saboteur instructor to a clandestine resistance organisation.
On arrival he was sent to the Province of LIEGE where he formed and trained teams of saboteurs. As a result of his enthusiasm and hard work, many succesful attacks on railway targets were soon made. The majority of these attacks were planned and prepared by Bayet who personally led some of them.
Prior to the entry of the Liberating Forces, Bayet helped in the mobilisation of the resistance groups in his area and took part in attacks on enemy convoys which resulted in the destruction of a number of enemy vehicles, and the capture of 420 prisoners with about an equal number of killed.
It is recommended that he be awarded the Military Medal"
