Biography

Harold Doree may have joined the army on 9 May 1898 and was already a soldier(boy infantry) by 1901. He served with 1st Battalion Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment and arrived in France 15 August 1914. He was killed in action 1 September 1914.

"The 1st Battalion QORWK mobilised at Dublin and arrived in France 15.8.1914. They were part of 13 Brigade of 5th Division of General Smith-Dorrien’s 2nd Corps.

They came into action at Mons 23.8.1914, and then began the Retreat. They fought at Le Cateau, and on 1.9.1914, the final day of the Retreat, they fought at Crepy, where Corporal Harold Doree was killed in action."
