Hans Müller-Lehning was born in 1895 in Elberfeld, Germany. He worked as a naturalized Dutch citizen in the textile industry.
Müller-Lehning fought as a German in the First World War and was naturalized as a Dutch citizen in 1927. He joined the NSB in 1933, where he was appointed by Mussert as Gemachtigde [van den Leider] in Bijzondere Dienst.
Müller-Lehning was appointed head of the Commissariat of Non-Commercial Associations and Foundations by the Reichskommissariat Niederlande on October 2, 1940. In that position he was guilty of large-scale theft of Jewish property in the Netherlands.
Müller-Lehning's remains were found on the Blankenburg estate by the municipal police on June 13, 1945. His cause of death was determined to be suicide. It is suspected that he committed suicide on 7 or 8 May 1945.
