Jacob de Ruiter was born in Elst in 1899. Before the war, he was a dentist in Amsterdam.
De Ruiter became a member of the NSB in 1933 and was given the position of 'Kringleider' of Amsterdam. During the German occupation, he was Authorized Representative [of the Leader] for North Holland and district leader of North Holland and Amsterdam. De Ruiter married Olga van Lankeren Matthes, national leader of the National Socialist Women's Organization (NSVO). The couple had four children.
A special public prosecutor investigated De Ruiter after the war and his case came before the court.
Joost de Ruiter died in 1958 in Deventer.
