Jean-Francois de Crevoisier, one of three brothers came from a noble family who lived in London.
In 1916 he volunteered for the Royal Flying Corps. Seriously injured after he was shot down in 1917 he spend 9 months in hospital.
After the First World War he emigrated to France to live in Pontarlier where he would served as the Mayor of Bonnal, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comte region.
When World War 2 broke out, Jean-Francois had hoped to return to England to take up an army commission. Yet due to the German invasion he was forced to stay in France.
In 1941 his brother Pierre who was recruited by SOE, parachuted into France in order to meet Jean in Paris, with the news that their brother Philippe - also an SOE recruit - had already agreed to work for the French Resistance in Vichy France. Jean immediately agreed to work too, and took charge of the Franche-Comté region. Subsequently he set up and organised Resistance groups which undertook the sabotage of sensitive infrastructure in the region.
In July 1942 he was arrested and eventually imprisoned in Fresnes Prison, Paris.
In February 1945 he was executed at Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg Concentration Camp in Germany.
