Citation:
"In April, 1944, Capt. DUFFOIR accompanied his organiser by sea operation to the BRITTANY coast. His mission was to assist in organising sabotage groups in BRITTANY.
Before coming to this country DUFFOIR had taken part in a number of parachute receptions in the South of FRANCE and in addition had done valuable courier work for one of our organisers in that area.
This circuit started work in extremely difficult circumstances. They were to contact an existing organiser in that area and to use his W/T operator but found that the organiser and the W/T operator had both been arrested. DUFFOIR then set out to try to send a wireless message to LONDON through the old organiser with whom he had worked, some hundreds of kilometres to the South. In this he was successful and so enabled arms to be parachuted to the newly formed groups in BRITTANY.
On his return Capt. DUFFOIR assisted in organising these groups which carried out many notable acts of sabotage, including the following railway cuts:
RENNES - ST BRIEUC
REDON - QUIMPER
CARHAIX - GUINCAMP
CARHAIX - MARLAIX
In addition to these activities the groups thus formed were engaged in several actions killing many of the enemy and on one occasion taking 400 prisoners who were handed over to the Americans.
Capt. DUFFOIR earned great credit for his part in arming and organising these Resistance groups which gave considerable help to the American advance in the BRITTANY sector.
It is recommended that CAPT. DUFFOIR be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (Military Division).
8th Dec '45."
