Biography
Rudolf Loeffler was born on September 30th, 1917 as the son of Oberregierungsrates Felix Loeffler. He was killed in action at Werchopenje, southeast of Orel, on July 21st, 1942. At that moment he served as Generalstabsoffizier with the rank of Major im Generalstab.

Awarded for his actions in mid-1942 during the German summer offensive on the Eastern front. With a Vorausabteilung of his 111. Infanterie-Division he managed to penetrate deep into the Soviet defense east of Malo Nikolayevka (NW of Rostov), capture a commanding height and then hold it against all Soviet counterattacks.
