On May 4, 1943 at 10:15 p.m., the Short Stirling BK773 "MG-T" of 7 Squadron took off from Oakington in Cambridgeshire to take part in the attack on Dortmund.
At 00:08 the Stirling was shot down by a German night fighter and crashed near Hoorn in the IJsselmeer.
Three crew members are still missing.
Holden washed ashore near Hoorn on May 27, 1943.
