"Squadron Leader Robertson has completed many successful attacks against such heavily defended targets as Karlsruhe, Brest and Kiel. In May 1944 whilst returning from an attack against Lens, his aircraft sustained extensive damage as a result of a collision.

Despite the difficulties involved, Squadron Leader Robertson regained control of the aircraft, and flew it safely back to his country where he made a masterly crash landing.

This captain of aircraft has consistently proven himself an outstanding pilot and flight commander and has set an inspiring example to all under his command."
