Biography

Commercial pilot/member of the resistance

Kerkhoff, in training for flight duty, tried to cross to England in the autumn of 1940 with the aim of enlisting as a war pilot. That attempt failed. On the night of February 4 to 5, 1941, another attempt was made from Katwijk. In good weather he managed to get into the sea in a boat. A few hours later the weather changed and a strong wind came up. Because he was never heard from again, it is certain that he died during the journey in February 1941.
