Biography

"Died on the way home" (Burnley Express & Advertiser 1 Feb 1919):

Death occurred in the Netherlands from pneumonia, on January 14, 1919, aged 27. The deceased entered the Special Reserve camp in July, 1914, and on the outbreak of war he was at once drafted into the Expeditionary Force, leaving on December 30 of the same year. He has never been home since. He was captured on May 14, 1915 and was held as a German prisoner of war. He died in the Netherlands while on his way home after being released.
