Biography

Captain Ms Berakit

The Berakit was a seized German ship. Leaving Colombo for Durban on May 5, 1943, this ship was torpedoed east of the Maldives on May 7, 1943. After this, the ship was shelled with cannon fire for quite some time by the Japanese submarine that had surfaced. With the exception of a few people, the crew managed to escape with two boats. However, the Japanese captured Captain Kruisinga and he died in Japanese captivity on February 25, 1944 in Ashio.
