"One night in April, 1943, Sergeants Huntley and Stott were pilot and rear gunner of an aircraft detailed to attack Stettin. Whilst over enemy territory the aircraft was attacked by 3 enemy fighters. In the ensuing engagement Sergeant Stott, skilfully using his guns, drove off 2 of the attackers and shot the other one down in flames. The bomber had sustained much damage, however, making it difficult to control. Despite this, Sergeant Huntley flew the aircraft back to an airfield in this country, making a successful landing without the aid of flares. Both these members of the crew displayed great skill and resolution, setting a fine example."
