Biography

Claud Gordon HumphryMacTavish, aged 21, son of Lieut. Gordon Mitchell Humphrey Mactavish, R.N.V.R., killed on duty on 16 November 1947, and Helena Mactavish, of Ardrossan, Ayrshire. Observer of the Short Stirling MK1 BF415 which was shot down by a German night fighter near Montfoort on a mission to Hamburg on Thursday 4 February 1943. He and the rest of the crew died in the crash and are buried in Montfoort Municipal Cemetery.

The inscription on his headstone reads:
'DEAR BELOVED SON OF LIEUT. and MRS.GORDON MACTAVISH OF ARDROSSAN, SCOTLAND'
