Flying Officer with 487 Squadron RNZAF. Crashed 10-12-1943 in Klazienaveen after taking off with his Havilland Mosquito HX966 EG-D from RAF Sculthorpe. Target was Rütenbrock, Germany.
Hiis Mosquito was last seen on its way out as it passed the Dutch coast. After this, nothing is known until the aircraft suddenly crashed for an unknown reason. This happened in the afternoon around 14:15; the aircraft came down on a plot of farmland located north of the Van Echtenskanaal. Today, this is the area located between Zuiderkeerkring and Neptunusbaan in Klazienaveen.
Both crew members, Flying Officer Michael Lewis Frankson and Flying Officer David Edward Cake, did not survive the crash and are buried in the cemetery at Nieuw-Dordrecht.
