Erwin von Mehlem had a brother who was killed during the First World War during a battle between the Austrian Army and the Italian Army. He also had four sisters. His second sister (Hildegard), died during the Dresden bombing. His father, Erwin von Mehlem, died in 1912 in Graz, Austria.
Erwin von Mehlem was shot by Soviet military on 13th May 1945. The reason is unknown.
