Biography

Pierre Tissier was the son of a State Councillor, in turn a member of the Council of State in 1926, he was Master of Requests when war broke out. Mobilised, he fought in the Norwegian campaign. The only member of the Council of State present in London in June 1940, he joined General de Gaulle and became his first chief of staff. He reached the rank of colonel in Free France. After the war, he headed the offices of Adrien Tixier and then Jules Moch at the Ministry of the Interior. He chaired the SNCF from 1949 until his death.
