Born 27 April 1918 in Zijpe, son of Abram de Boer and Maartje Prins. Sailor 3rd class ZM in the Royal Netherlands Navy. Killed on 12 May 1940 aboard the minelayer Hr.Ms. Bulgia during a German bombardment of Vlissingen harbour during which the Bulgia sank. The ship was lifted in July 1940 during which the 11 remains of the crew were recovered and buried in Vlissingen. Willem de Boer was reburied at the Sint Maartensbrug Municipal Cemetery on 31 August 1940. Willem de Boer's name appears in the Erelijst Gevallenen 1940-1945.
