Born 24 September 1912, son of Johannis Peters (Sliedrecht 4 August 1875 - Utrecht 1 March 1920) and Maria Blokland (Sliedrecht 23 July 1874 - Sliedrecht 6 February 1955).

Johannis Blokland was fatally hit by a German bullet at the time he was trying to set up his mitralleur during the fighting around northern approaches to the Willemsbrug in Rotterdam. The War Graves Foundation uses 14 May 1940 as the date of death. Presumably, the death certificate is set to that date. The naval roll also uses 14 May. However, given the course of the fighting on that day, it is very likely that Marine Peters died on 13 May.
