Lennox was born on January 12 1920 in Abbey, Saskatchewan, the son of Norman Percival Main (Jamaican and deceased in 1933) and Blanche Josephine Wilson Main nee Freeman of Abbey. They were married on February 20 1918 in Swift Current Saskatchewan. His brother was John Percival Main and his sisters were Kathleen and Muriel Main.
He was a soldier and member of the United Church. He visited the Hill Public School from 1927-1938. His sport was softball (moderately) and his hobby was mechanical training at home.

He served from June 20 1941 with the N.R.M. A. Clearing Depot no 12. He enlisted on July 25 1941 then the RCAF in Regina Saskatchewan and he went on July 18 1942 thereafter overseas to the UK. He received on May 25 1942 the Air Gunner’s Badge in Canada. He took part after the arrival in the UK to the 13 different air operations of his squadron on NW Europe.

Lennox died on Sunday 3 October 1943 at the age of 23, in a crash with the Halifax LK925 SE-R. The aircraft had been hit by a night fighter after an attack on Kassel Germany. He was then temporarily buried in St Vith Belgium before being reburied in Hotton on 24 June 1947. The other RCAF crew members killed were Sgt Calvin H. Wardrope, age 19 in grave 6-C-2 and W/O Navigator (Bomber) Gordon J. Crebbin, age 22 in grave 6-C-3.

The remaining crew members W/O John Reynoldson (RCAF), W/O Lester L. Cudmore (RCAF), Grappa C. Storey (RAF) and F/Sgt Stan D. Peters (RAF) were made prisoners of war. F/Sgt Ray A. De Pape managed to escape. All of them survived the war.

His mother was awarded in June 1945 The Memorial Bar. He was awarded on October 30 1946 posthumously the Operational Wings and Certficate in recognition of the gallant service against the enemy.

A monument bearing the names of all crew members stands at the site of the crash, which was unveiled by Stan Peters and Ray de Pape on 17 May 1998.

He served with The Royal Canadian Air Force 431 Sqdn.
