Biography

Charles McAllister Jarvie was born in Glasgow on 9 May 1922.

He joined the RAF in July 1940, waiting nearly two years before beginning gunnery training in September 1942.

In November 1942, he was posted to the newly formed 467 Squadron at RAF Bottesford. Jarvie flew eight missions, including a mine-laying operation and the bombing of Lorient, before being posted to 617 Squadron on 28 March 1943.

Jarvie was in the front turret of AJ-K when it was hit by flak over Texel island on the Dutch coast. His body was never recovered, and he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
