Biography

Horst Liensberger followed his military training with the Austrian Bundesheer. After the "Anschluss" he was incorporated with the Luftwaffe and served in France with the V.(Z) / Lehrgeschwader 1.

He was killed on 27th September 1940, during the Airbattle over England. During the air battle, Liensberger's Messerschmitt Bf 110 collided with the persuing No. 249 Squadron Hawker Hurricane of Flying Officer Percy Burton who had run out of ammunition and was low on gasoline. Both Liensberger and his radio-operator, Unteroffizier Albert Kopge and the Hawker Hurricane pilot were killed.
