Ir. H.J. van Aalderen was working with the Dutch Railroads at the outbreak of the war. After being only sideways connected to resistance work by providing information, he got more involved in the spring of 1944. By then there was formed a plan to use the railways networks as an information network for the Dutch resistance.
On august 7th 1944 van Aalderen was called for to come to his work for an importand meeting. On arrival he was arrested and transferred to the concentrationcamp at Vught. From there he left for Sachsenhausen on september 6th 1944. At Sachsenhausen he worked in the Heinkel factories. Probably in januari 1945 he was transported to Bergen-Belsen, where he died.Because his body has never been found and there is no deathcertificate, the date mat 31st 1945 is being upholded as the date of his death.
