The following wartime excerpt (dated 30.08.1940) describes why Weber received the Knight’s Cross…
“Oberstleutnant Weber, commander of an Infanterie-Regiment, broke through the strong Peel Position (located in Holland) with his men on the 10.05.1940. By doing this a breach was opened that the Panzer-Division located in the area could exploit. His masterful conduct of this mission was decisive for establishing contact with those friendly air landing troops located south of Rotterdam in a timely fashion. On the 17.05.1940 Oberstleutnant Weber received the task of using his Regiment to achieve a penetration in the fortified line around Antwerp during the evening. Oberstleutnant Weber also successfully carried out this mission.”
