“Major Wildermuth captured Hill 304 (located north of Cappel) on the 14.06.1940, and thereby achieved the first breach in the Maginot Line in the sector of his Division. On the 16.06.1940, as a result of his executing two extremely bold actions (during which he captured 2 French companies with just 4 men of his own), he captured Vie and occupied the bridge located there. By doing so he laid the groundwork for a swift crossing of the Seille river and the continued relentless pursuit of enemy forces.”
