1937: transferred from the Heer to the Luftwaffe and assigned to the Flakartillerie
1939-1940: Leutnant, transferred from the Flakartillerie to the Fliegertruppe and began training as a fighter pilot and then assigned as a flight instructor
10.1940: transferred to II./ JG 54
12.07.1941: 6./ JG 54 - his Bf 109 G-2 Werknummer 14236 'Yellow 4' crashed vic Sebeja due to engine damage
17.10.1941: Leutnant d.R., awarded DKiG, 6./ JG 54
09.05.1942: Leutnant, awarded Ritterkreuz, 6./ JG 54
12.08.1942-06.03.1943: Leutnant, appointed Staka 6./ JG 54
30.09.1942: Leutnant, awarded Eichenlaub, Staka 6./ JG 54
14.10.1942: promoted to Oberleutnant der Reserve
09.11.1942: promoted to SS-Untersturmführer
06.03.1943: KIA – his Bf 109 G-2 coded 'Yellow 4 + -' is said to have been rammed by a Russian LaGG 3 fighter in the vicinity of Staraya Russa after claiming two victories over Lake Ilmen
