Biography

On July 31st, 1942, Richard Bock as pilot of the Heinkel He 111H-6, Constr. Nr. 7526, G1+GV from 11. Staffel, Kampfgeschwader 55, was shot down northwest of Preston, Dorset, by a Bristol Beaufighter (Pilot Officer B.R. Keele and Pilot Officer G.H. Cowles) from No. 604 Squadron. The crew of the Heinkel consisted of Flugzeugführer Oberfeldwebel Richard Bock (POW), Beobachter Hauptmann Adalbert Karbe (died), Bordfunker Oberfeldwebel Wilhelm Becker (POW), Bordmechaniker Feldwebel Erhard Schäffer (died) en Bordschütze Obergefreiter Hans Delatron (died). Oberfeldwebel Becker and Oberfeldwebel Bock managed to rescue themselves with their parachute.
