Biography

Ivan William Butler was born in 1923 as son to Henry Butler and Maud Butler. He served as Pilot inNo. 74 Squadorn, with the rank of Warrant Officer. He svrambled for a reconnaissence sortie at 08.30, February 15th, 1945 form Schijndel Airbase in his Sptfire Mk LG.IX, "PV311". While attacking a train, he was shot down. Although wounded he survived the crash and was transported to 24th Evacuation Hospital near Brandenburg, Germany, by military of the 29th Casualty Clearing Centre. There he died on February 26th.
