Hans-Dieter Frank was killed in the night of September 27th to 28th, when his Heinkel He 219 collided with a Messerschmitt Bf 110, Northwest of Celle. He was posthumously promoted to Major.
During his career he achieved a total of 55 victories in approximately 150 operational missions.
