Biography

Gies was a fight instructor with the Stuka school in Graz from 03-06-1941 until 06-10-1942. He was operational again on Oktober 15th 1942 with 1./St.G.2 (later 1./SG2). He flew his 500th mission on Oktober 15th 1943 and his 600th on February 27th 1944. He becam POW in May 1945 as Oberfeldwebel after 667 missions
