His Ju 88 A-4 Werknummer 142265 coded "9K + CR" was hit in the cockpit by AA fire, wounding his Observer,, Fw Johann Brechters. Despite his wounds, he was able to return to the Bagerowo airfield and make a relatively smooth landing.
