The following excerpt from the Wehrmachtbericht, dated 10.02.1944, describes the battles by which Luczny would earn the Knight’s Cross…

“During the heavy defense battles south of Leningrad, a Luftwaffe Flak-Division under the command of Generalleutnant Luczny has particularly distinguished itself. In the time from 14 January to 7 February the unit destroyed 105 enemy aircraft and within the space of three weeks also destroyed 111 Soviet tanks.”
