14.02.1941: transferred to 1. Staffel, KG 53
00.05.1942: attained his 100th mission
29.06.1942: Leutnant, awarded the Ehrenpokal
15.08.1942: flew his 200th mission
24.10.1942: Leutnant in 1./ KG 53, awarded the DKiG
00.11.1942-00.02.1943: flew supply missions to the Demyansk pocket
