Has distinguish himself by excellent actions of
courage, policy and faithfully. During an enemy attack on May 10, 1940 on the Maasvak near Wessem he stay on his post, bunker S1 on his own. The rest of his men have escaped. He still fired at the enemy which crossed the Maas at that time. He used every automatic weapon left behind by his men. Unfortunately the enemy still crosses the river. Then the bunker was attacked by the enemy from his back and by this attack he died.
