Ernst Reusch finally reached the rank of Major. He deid of his wounds in the Lazerett in Danzig on December 26th, 1945. At that moment he served as Kommandeur with III. / Schlachtgeschwader 1. He was most probably buried as an unknown soldier at the German War Cemetery Neumark.

Flew a total of 765 sorties, most of these with the Ju 87.
