Biography

Karl-Fritz Schlosstein’s real name was in fact Karl-Friedrich but he himself preferred Karl-Fritz. Initially he flew the Messerschmidt Me 110 in Jagdgeschwader 5 (Fighter Wing) when this unit arrived in Norway in 1942. In the summer of 1942, he was put in command of 13.(Z) / Jagdgeschwader 5, a command he held until June 1943. He subsequently transferred to the Messerschmidt Bf 109. Later on he flew the Messerschmidt Me 410 Hornet in Zerstörergeschwader 76. He ended the war defending German airspace in Jagdgeschwader 54 flying the Focke-Wulf Fw 190.
