Biography

07.05.1944: Unteroffizier, 11./ KG-30, KIA when on the return from maintenance work performed in Kastrup Ju 88A-5 Werknummer 2432 coded "4D + GV" was intercepted by a Mosquito of RAF No. 613 Sq., piloted by Wing Cmdr John Braham and Navigator Don Walsh.
Flugzeugführer Ofw Paul Berlinke tried to run for cloud cover, but was unsuccessful, and shot down west of Roskilde Denmark in a fiery crash. His body was found in the wreckage.
Remaining crew:
-Ofw Karl Soldau (WIA), Bordfunker, managed to bail safely
-Gefr Werner Stark and Uffz Kurt Stephan both bailed, but were too low for their chutes to deploy and died
