21.12.1942: Leutnant, 9./ StG-77, KIA along with his Bordfunker Uffz Reinhold Schewe, during a low-level attack 3 km east of Fissenkovo, 17 km southeast of Rossosh, after having received a direct flak hit. 482 missions including 103 against Sevastopol

“Leutnant Stifter distinguished himself as a bomber pilot over the course of 482 sorties in the East. He died a heroic death on the 21.12.1942 whilst executing a difficult interdiction mission.”
103 of these sorties were flown against Sevastopol.
