Biography

The 5. Jäger-Division defended her bridgehead on the southern bank of the Bug near Wyszków very effectively. This enabled the division to diminish her bridgehead according to plan in the night of 21 August 1944. It was repeatedly attacked by the enemy and in the evening the order was given to retreat to the northern bank. Hilt died in this operation.
