“Knight’s Cross Holder From Lübeck:
The Führer has awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross to Oberleutnant Gerhard Boldt, Schwadron leader in an Aufklärungs-Abteilung. Oberleutnant der Reserve Gerhard Boldt… and his Aufklärungs-Schwadron launched a strike against overwhelming Soviet forces during a battle to eliminate a hostile penetration south of Lake Ilmen. In this time he personally opened a lane through a Bolshevik minefield whilst under strong opposing fire, thereafter attacking and smashing the enemy… Now he has received the Knight’s Cross.”
